5 tips for integrating an osteopathy session

During an osteopathic session, the osteopath works on the whole body to restore balance and mobility to the various parts of the body. Osteopathy can relieve pain in muscles and joints, as well as digestive disorders, headaches and menstrual pain, to name but a few.

However, it is not uncommon to feel the need to rest after an osteopathic session. The work performed on the body can be intense and require a great amount of energy. It is therefore advisable to allow time for rest after the session, to allow the body to rebalance and regenerate. Your body is in the process of reorganising itself.

During reorganisation, the body and all our systems regulate themselves. You may feel immense fatigue, headaches and muscle soreness - sometimes even in places where we haven't worked. More rarely, your period may come earlier than expected or your digestive system may be more active than usual. The body eliminates what it doesn't need. If you experience a particularly intense reaction during or after your osteopathic session, don't hesitate to contact your osteopath to share your experience or ask questions.

5 tips for integrating an ostheopathy session

Here are 5 tips on how to integrate an osteopathic session:

  1. Get some rest: go to bed early, take a bath... You can also take advantage of this time to meditate or practise guided relaxation to promote your relaxation and well-being.

  2. Drink water/herbal tea: this helps to eliminate the toxins released during the session. As well as water, you can drink herbal infusions that aid digestion and relaxation, such as chamomile or verbena. Avoid coffee.

  3. Writing: this is almost the most important point for me: putting words to the state of your body to become aware of the psycho-emotional part of the session. Take the time to write about your sensations, your emotions, your thoughts... This will help you to better understand your body and yourself.

  4. Stretch and gently move your body: after an osteopathic session, it's important to gently take care of your body. You can do a few simple stretches, such as rotating your arms and legs, or stretching your spine. This will help to relieve tension and promote the circulation of blood and energy in your body.

  5. Avoid alcohol and other drugs: after an osteopathic session, it is advisable to avoid alcohol, which can be harmful to your body and mind. Eat a healthy, balanced diet, rich in fruit and vegetables, proteins and complex carbohydrates, to promote recovery and well-being. .
