MANUAL THERAPY
Osteopathy
“Our body is the expression of our true health.”
Touch - feel - understand the body in its wholeness.
Symptoms are generally just the tip of the iceberg. Human beings can never be considered in isolation from their environment or life history, and each body has therefore undergone different experiences. Physical or emotional injuries, stress, an unhealthy lifestyle or illness can leave their mark on our bodies. The body can often compensate for problems over a long period of time and resolve them on its own. But sometimes injuries leave their mark and symptoms appear that are difficult for us to understand. These can manifest themselves in different ways, typically as pain and restricted movement, or in less specific ways, such as a feeling of inner restlessness or exhaustion. As a complementary medicine, osteopathy offers a holistic concept of diagnosis and therapy. It is based on knowledge of the anatomy, biochemistry, physiology and embryology of the human body. Osteopathy seeks to restore the body's disrupted functions by detecting and treating the causes of pain and functional disorders. The basic idea is that our musculoskeletal system, cranium and spinal cord, as well as our internal organs, are interconnected systems linked by fine networks of tissues (fascias). Gentle manipulations are designed to eliminate blockages in these connections and activate the body's self-healing powers.
Osteopathy works holistically and is not limited to the problem area.
The purpose of osteopathic treatment is not only to eliminate the symptoms of a physical ailment, but also, and above all, its cause. Osteopaths work with their hands, without the use of any tools or medication, and use their knowledge of the various relationships between the body's different systems to try to positively influence the tissues where the causes of the condition may lie. By working with the nervous system and balancing tensions at different levels, the original causes of the symptom itself can be revealed.
Osteopathy knows no age limits. As a complement and extension of modern medicine, it speeds up the healing of many disorders. Often, a few sessions are enough, but chronic disorders require longer-term therapy. Gentle techniques can be applied even in cases of weakened constitution or osteoporosis. However, for newborn babies and children, there are osteopaths who specialise in paediatrics.
It is important to note that osteopathy is a gentle method of treatment. This is why many patients underestimate the effects of the session. If possible, it is advisable to allow time for rest in the days following treatment. Patients may feel tired or sore for up to 4 days after the treatment, and may need more rest. The body's real work begins after the treatment, so it is important to listen to its needs.
Many health insurance funds now reimburse costs on a proportionate basis, as an optional supplementary benefit. The amount of reimbursement varies widely. In most cases, maximum amounts per session or per year are set. It is also important that you come with a German prescription from a doctor for your sessions. Please check with your health insurance fund before treatment.

pHYSICAL THERAPY
I am also a qualified physiotherapist and continue to practise at PhysioFit in Berlin-Moabit.
Physiotherapy is a medical profession whose main purpose is to restore, improve or maintain the ability to move and function of the human musculoskeletal system. It can be used after a fracture, operation or injury, but also for jaw problems such as bruxism, tension and headaches.
Physiotherapy techniques are many and varied. In addition to classic techniques such as heat or cryotherapy, clay compresses, sport or movement therapy, and medical training therapy, I also use ancient techniques such as Cupping or Gua Sha, both derived from traditional Chinese medicine.
Physiotherapy is reimbursed at 90% by the public social security system. The additional payment for physiotherapy is regulated by law and amounts to 10% of the treatment costs plus €10 per prescription. Payment must be made no later than the 3rd treatment appointment at our practice.
It should be noted that, like osteopathy, physiotherapy can only be carried out on the advice of a doctor. You will therefore need to obtain a prescription before starting your treatment. In addition, it is important to point out that physiotherapy is not limited to physical recovery, but can also help to improve your mental well-being by reducing the stress and anxiety associated with body pain.
Here too, you can make an appointment with me by contacting the practice directly by e-mail. Please also send us your prescription so that we can plan your appointments as effectively as possible. Don't forget to cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you can't make it, so that we have time to give your place to someone else in need.
